Observation
One interesting observation from Yaniz Varoufakis’ article is the manifesto’s prediction that industrialization would grow significantly and interrupt human relations or work. Varoufakis argues that advancement of technology is the modern industrialization that is causing disruption of social conditions and ways of completing work. Technological change has made it harder for people to connect and also it is also taking work away from people. For example, while globalization has made it easier to connect with people across the world, it has also made it harder to form tangible human relations. Machines are also doing a lot of things that were initially done by people. Also, through globalization and technological advancements, many other evils have emerged in the society. Increase in capital only benefits owners of production while workers have to strive for hours to complete work that seems endless and need slave this way to pay bills. In the capitalist market, people are constantly wage-slaving to reach these global markets. However, most surprising is that the owners or the ultra-rich are also stressed and overburdened trying to secure the satisfaction of wage-slaving workers. The article claims that the growth of capitalism has created a situation where work is constantly being done but human workers and owners find no satisfaction.
