In this article, the author argues that social justice means what is just for the whole. Ideally, social justice requires being sensitive to everyone needs and concerns. Is social justice easy to achieve? When accessed through the concept of distributive justice, social justice is often not achieved for example unjust institutions where people from certain races receive fair treatment compared to others. When accessed through retributive justice, it also possible that a person who is innocent could end up in prison for many years.
There are various conceptions of social justice. The classical conception traces back to the ideals of Plato with references to the religious and mythical form of social justice. Classic authors like Plato equated social justice to ideals of just behavior. It is through this understanding of justice that allowed people to understand injustices and conditions that lead to injustices.
