Transitioning from a lower to a higher level of learning is one of the most complex processes that call for due diligence. It is characterized by a new environment, more challenging learning processes and contents, and unfamiliar students. Students undergo psychological, social, and emotional changes at this stage, which could affect their learning. Because a student's success in building one's career is majorly dependent on the measures put in place to enhance smooth transition and adaptation, key players' contributions in the process, including teachers and parents are essential. Undoubtedly, helping adolescents in adjusting to middle and high school transitions requires combined efforts from all involved parties. Parents and teachers have specific roles they play to ease the transition process.
There are several ways that the teachers can help the students in the transition. One of the most critical roles is establishing a safe psychosocial learning environment (Strand, 2020). This involves spending time with the students to learn more about them. It requires the teachers to participate in sports with the students to create a strong bond between the teachers and the learners. The students are also given time to interact with one another in their new environment. Besides, the school invites parents and guardians to accompany their children for a conversation with the class teacher for specific classes. This ensures that they are acquainted with the school's necessary information, demands, and requirements. Notably, the teachers monitor the student's well-being all the time.
