A leader practising this theory ensures that he/she is able to inspire his workers to follow the vision envisaged for the company. This, in turn, motivates and improves retention rates of employees since they are involved in significant processes (Aga, Vallejo, & Noorderhaven, 2016). Ensuring that a company retains its most talented employees in the wake of increased competition in the industry creates an environment for growth and prosperity. Therefore, transformational leaders inspire their employees, thus creating an environment for increased productivity. Competition in an industry requires a change in behaviour for leaders to enable swift and flexible adjustments to occur without adversely affecting the company. Only leaders that are willing to take the necessary steps can thus gain an advantage over their competition.
