One of the fundamental ethical principles that guide the police in the execution of their mandate is fairness. The police must conduct themselves in a way that will dispense the feeling of discrimination. The extent to which any given community feels that police actions are justified and appropriate is very important (Peak & Glensor, 2018). A community must feel that the police actions are informed by facts and justice. On the other hand, the police must strive for legitimacy by engaging in activities that are agreeable and supported by citizens.
After watching the video, I feel that the NYPD's stop and frisk is a little over the board and is marked by racial prejudices. In the incidents highlighted in the video, the suspects are stopped and frisked on account of their dressing code. They have not behaved in any suspicious manner to warrant frisking.
