Companies face serious threats arising from cyberattacks. The growing use of technology and dependence on the internet has led to increased risk of cyberattacks. A firm’s dependence on the internet increases the risk of attackers illegally accessing its IT ecosystem. Despite the need to continually monitor and protect this eco-system, research indicates that close to 66 percent of companies have failed to make necessary system adjustments to combat cyber threats, and some companies take almost six months to detect a breach (Media Team, 2019). According to an article by Clark (2019), the digital age offers attackers numerous ways of spying and stealing information from individuals and companies. To counter this problem, Clark (2019) suggests the implementation of a castle approach, also referred to as defense in depth.
