Psychopharmacology is the scientific study of the impacts of different drugs on the mental health of patients. Patients with mental health problems are cared for by psychiatric mental health specialist nurses. This paper explains a nurse care routine for mentally ill patients who have a long history of depression and a psychiatric medication routine of anhedonia and depression before prescribing the medication. The decision of drug selection depends on the long history of depression and anhedonia, which results in the lack of interest in pleasure by the patient and anxiety issues. Based on the patient's mental problems, the psychiatric should consider the drug to administer into consideration. The patient should put drug side effects into consideration. For example, the patient's emotional trauma should not take medicines with adverse side effects (Currie et al., 2020). Time is a factor that doctors consider as a good selection for mentally ill patients because they will know that at a particular time, they should take medicine compared to medicines that are administered at different times a day (Dorow et al., 2018).
Doctors recommend different drugs to prevent and cure depression. They include the following: 
Serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs)
SNRIs include duloxetine and venlafaxine. Essential in improving serotonin levels in the brain. They also reduce the symptoms of depression. These antidepressants also help in relieving chronic pain, which could because of depression.
b) Tetracyclic Antidepressants
Tetracyclic antidepressants like Maprotiline can treat depression by balancing neuro-transmitters into the body. This balancing of neurotransmitters helps to stop depression symptoms.
c) Natural treatments
Doctors highly recommend natural treatments for treating depression. Natural options include the use of herbs known for the treatment of depression. (St John wort herb). Also, socializing can be a remedy for depression. When people interact with each other, they can stop overthinking, and this can help eliminate depression.
