Introduction
Multiple sclerosis is a condition that negatively affects the central nervous system. It is usually a result of the immune system attack on the myelin sheath, on the nerve fibers, leading to communication problems between the brain and the body (Faissner et al., 2019). With time, the disease causes permanent nerve defects. Symptoms depend on the severity of the disease, with the most common symptom being the complete inability to walk.
The case study entails a female patient who is twenty-six years old. She has been newly diagnosed with Multiple sclerosis and has scheduled a follow-up appointment with her physician. She has a lot of questions regarding the diagnosis and therefore makes a call to the nurse helpline. During the call, she understands that multiple sclerosis has an impact on the neurologic and musculoskeletal systems. The patient needs to realize that although her initial diagnosis, multiple sclerosis, is an autoimmune disorder, her neurologic and musculoskeletal systems will be affected by severe symptoms. She needs to be aware of these symptoms, drug therapy plans, and additional treatment strategies decided by the healthcare team of professionals.

Patient education on the pathophysiology of multiple sclerosis, including common symptoms, causes, risk factors, and treatment plans. Education will be offered to the patient and her caregivers or close family members.
Reason
Patient education has shown improved attitudes towards disease, which has always improved the prognosis. When a patient is aware of all the dimensions of the disease, they are likely to comply to treatment in a winning attitude (Rieckmann et al., 2015). For example, a study done by group members with multiple sclerosis, who independently researched and gave examples of education and engagement strategies, showed improved patient outcomes (Rieckmann et al., 2015).
Expected Result
The patient would stop worrying and follow all the treatment therapies with a high spirit and a positive outlook.
Expected versus Actual Results
It was expected that the patient would change her outlook and accept her condition. However, she was sad and seemed not to accept her condition. She was scared, especially after learning that there is no cure for multiple sclerosis.
