Hospital improvements can improve clinical and business solutions. One way to improve patient outcomes is to focus on reduction of medical errors. Daniel (2016) notes that medical errors account for almost 250,000 deaths every year. Eliminating medical errors enhances patient outcomes. Another way to improve patient outcomes is better diagnostic techniques. Improved diagnosis ensures proper treatment (Ha & Longnecker, 2010). Diagnostic can be improved through technology and enhanced physician education or training.
The solution to reduction in health care costs is focusing on preventing care. Dalen (2010) says that enhancing preventive care in primary services can reduce costs. For example, more people would learn about nutrition, exercises, and stress reduction techniques to lower the risk of suffering expensive treatments when disease has progressed. Also, elimination of unnecessary tests and procedures can reduce costs. Many hospitals engage in unnecessary and expensive tests, which do benefit patients (Dalen, 2010).
