Improving the quality of life is the primary role of nurses. Nursing handle patients with different health conditions in their daily activities. Many attempts have been made to improve the care the nurses give the patients. One of the attempts is the introduction of evidence-based nursing practice. Evidenced-based practice refers to making decisions about caring for patients based on the evidence from well-designed clinical research. Organizations have faced many challenges such as lack of knowledge and information, politics, and organizational cultures in implementing the practice.
In our organization, evidenced-based practice is in the process of implementation, and there are many challenges. The first challenge is the inadequacy of time to read the literature on evidence-based practice. This makes the nurses have little understanding, skills, and knowledge about the practice (Khammarnia et al., 2015). Lack of enough time in most cases is due to the heavy workload the nurses have in the hospital. The second challenge is the lack of education; our organization is not organizing educational activities to help the nurses possess the necessary skills in the practice.
