1. What from the readings resonated with you most?
The notion of assisted literacy skill-building resonated with me the most. While this is a small part of the readings, it reminded me that continued encouragement to engage with age-appropriate literary materials can help a child develop his or her literacy skills.
2. What were the clearest or muddiest points of the readings?
The clearest point of the reading for me was the effectiveness of read-aloud techniques in terms of developing listening and other linguistic skills. There are tested methods of helping kids develop these skills but reading aloud repeatedly is one of the easiest methods because it provides an open platform for correction and reinforcement.
3. What did you learn from the readings? Use key vocabulary, examples, and terms from the text.
I learned that comprehension and language development go hand in hand more than one thinks. Language development is anchored on understanding what is being read and being able to use what was learned in different contexts.
