Coursework Instructions:

Please check the link, let me know if you have any trouble.

The film Speaking in Tongues: 4 kids, 4 languages, 1 City, 1 World, hlighlights four students in California attending four different bilingual programs.  (Please note that there is not much information on type of bilingual programs they are in, but they are probably enrolled in a two-way dual language bilingual programs, and some of them might have a 50%-50% language allocation and maybe one of them is immersion (maybe 80% in the LOTE and 20% in English).

As you watch the film reflect on the advantages and challenges of being educated in a bilingual program. Consider the perspective of the students themselves (what are they saying about it) and also from their family and community members’ perspective.

After viewing the film, choose one of the students and write a short Wiki (see the Wiki below) about something you noticed in regards to the advantages and/or challenges (either from the students’ perspectives and/or from the parents and/or community member perspectives). The Wiki post should not be longer than two paragraphs.
