Political humor or satire is a common occurrence in media. Even though the purpose is to make people laugh, it still has the same impact as serious news. The article by Cillizza has instances of satirical humor. The article focuses on an analysis of Trump’s response regarding the coronavirus, and whether the president has a good chance of winning a second term. For instance, he writes, “…and the voters who believe Trump has mishandled the crisis are far more passionate in that view than those who believe he has done well in dealing with it” (Cillizza, 2020). The quote focuses on how people feel regarding his response to the crisis. A non-humorous example is, “Trump's rapidly declining fortunes and struggles by GOP incumbents to distance themselves from him” (Cillizza, 2020). In both instances, the views which have been used match with the pre-existing attitudes of the audience, who can either be Democrats or Republicans.
