The late Nelson Mandela was a leader that made an impact on society. The qualities possessed by him are particularly important because they teach the society a lesson about leadership. For instance, Mandela exhibited a neuroticism or emotional stability. This is supported by the fact that he was able to forgive his prisoners even after becoming the president, which enabled him to achieve his vision of ending apartheid in South Africa. Another leadership quality exhibited by Nelson Mandela is integrity. According to Maxwell (2007), integrity enables leaders to earn the trust of their followers. Thus, Mandela earned the trust of his people by staying true to his promise.
