Analyzing the Music "Leave the Door Open"

Coursework Instructions:

Choose a piece of music of your liking, and create a listening guide in response to the following prompts related to various aspects of the music. You are more than welcome to choose to write about one of the pieces discussed thus far in class. You may in fact find this easier than describing a piece on your own, but the option is left open to you. Answer each of the following prompts to the best of your ability, as succinctly but completely as possible. A reply to each prompt should be relatively brief – 1-3 sentences. Regardless of what piece of music you choose, you should be able to respond to each component of the assignment in some fashion. In some cases, it may be that the relevant question is not valid, but you should nevertheless be able to justify this claim in some way. Be sure to provide a link to the specific recording of the piece about which you are writing. This can be either on YouTube, Spotify, or some other website with open access. This will make it easier for you to reference precise moments of the piece in response to the relevant questions. For this assignment, do your best to rely on your own ears and listening ability alone. In other words, there is no need to consult outside sources. However, if you do decide to use an outside source, website, etc., be mindful that you must cite it and include it at the end of the document.
