Madison v. Alabama revolving around an inmate who is sentenced to death. However, the main argument is whether it is lawful to kill the said inmate, because he claims to have forgotten the crime that he had done due to health and mental issues. The Supreme Court of the United States The court vacated and remanded the decision of the Alabama 13th Circuit Court, which covers Mobile County, Alabama. This stated that "the Eighth Amendment may permit executing a prisoner even if he cannot remember committing his crime, but it may prohibit executing a prisoner who suffers from dementia or another disorder rather than psychotic delusions”. In my opinion, through this excerpt, it can be said that executing Madison is lawful, because he has an understanding of why he is given the death row, although he cannot remember committing the crime.
