In the end, the young woman quits from the fashion world and lands a job at a traditional newspaper. The two main characters are the dominant and confident fashion editor, Miranda Priestly and the meek second assistant, Andrea Sachs. The female sub-characters include the first assistant, Emily, and Andrea’s friend, Lily. There are minor male characters, a co-worker named Nigel, Andrea’s boyfriend, Andrea’s father, Miranda’s boss and, Miranda’s husband. While their time appearance on the books is minimal, their roles are influential as their actions trigger crucial responses by the female characters which reveal the underlying factors of emotion, intellect and physicality of femininity in modern society. The Devil Wears Prada, was made from a screenplay by AlineBrosh McKenna based on the Lauren Weisberger novel with the same title. The novel was published in 2003 and by September, 2005, it began filming. The movie’s success reverberated in higher success for the book as it boosted sales. By January, 2007, it was the second most borrowed book in U.S. libraries and also the eighth best-selling. The movie version of The Devil Wears Prada communicates powerful messages of how women use power.
