Moral Disengagement
Moral disengagement is when individuals convince themselves that ethical standards do not apply to them in a given situation. A situation might be unethical, and they are aware but instead focuses moral standards on other conveniences. Thus, it is done by separating good morals from unethical conduct by avoiding mechanisms to condemn oneself. In other words, it allows inhumane behavior by avoiding self-condemnation, blaming higher authority, or justifying the action with a worst-case situation.
