Supply Chain Case Study Analysis
οΌ Case study analysis – Each student is required to analyze and prepare an executive brief of each case study (i.e., 7 executive briefs per student). The first executive brief grade will not count toward full class grade. Each subsequent executive brief will account for 3% of final grade. The brief should demonstrate clear understanding of the issues addressed in the case study and provide practical recommendation/s as appropriate. It should also be done professionally. Specifically, the brief should have four sections with clearly labeled subsections and points listed in bullet point format. The four sections should be:
• Key issue/problem statement – what is the key problem/s or issue/s addressed in the case? What is the main decision that manager/s need to make? Maximum = 2 issues.
• Options with pros and cons identified – what are the options for resolving the key problems/issues? What are the major pros and cons with each options? Maximum = 3 options.
• Recommendations – what is your advice for managers regarding problem/issues raised? (i.e., provide definite, succinct, clearly explained practical recommendations). Maximum = 2 recommendations.
• Key takeaways – what are the lessons for supply chain managers? (i.e., after reading this article/question/case, I learned that …?) Maximum = 2 lessons.
The executive briefs are intended to help you prepare for case discussions in class. You may consult other sources (i.e., company website, Google, trade publications, etc.) to enhance your understanding of the case problem and any relevant changes since the case was written. The briefs should not exceed 1-page, 12-font Times Roman or equivalent, 1-inch margin round, single-spaced, and in bullets format. The formatting requirement is an element of professionalism and will be considered in awarding assignment grade. The briefs are due prior to class start time both on Blackboard (Assignments) as well as in class (hardcopy) on the day the respective case study is discussed.
