Assess if peace and stability in the Middle East are vital to U.S. economy and national security.
If the United States withdrew its troops from the Middle East tomorrow, would the terrorist threat end. Why or why not?

Terrorism Activities Case Study
Terrorism has caused great havoc in different places and countries where it has occurred. In my opinion, global terrorism cannot be stopped. There are three main reasons why I take this position. First, most of the terrorist activities are perpetrated by individuals who have taken a radical stand on religion. Mostly, the people who carry out terrorism are usually Muslim jihadists. Since numerous people are being radicalized in Muslim countries, it is unlikely that there will be a shortage of jihadists. Further, since most terrorists do not care about losing their own life, it is unlikely that terrorist activities will be stopped. The second reason why I think terrorism cannot be stopped is that countries have vowed never to negotiate with terrorists. Terrorists are criminal perpetrators, and governments worldwide cannot bring themselves to negotiate with them (Smith & Zeigler, 2017). Under such circumstances, it is unlikely that global terrorism will come to an end. The third reason concerns peacekeeping missions. It is unlikely that the United Nations and countries such as the United States will tolerate a situation where armed militia kill innocent people. In countries where such acts happen, the U.N. and countries such as U.N. must send peacekeeping mission troops. Terrorists are always opposed to such arrangements. Take, for instance, the case of U.S. embassy bombings in Nairobi and Dar es Salam. The Al Qaeda terrorists who carried out the attacks wanted the U.S. to withdraw its peacekeeping mission in the Middle East. In a nutshell, I do not think that global terrorism can be stopped; it can only be minimized.
