Introduction
The success of any organization highly depends on the ability of the management team to make goals and ensure that they have been achieved. Such goals depend on the size and age of the firm, as well as the availability of resources. It is through such a management plan that organizations are able to determine the role played by each of the stakeholders towards the firm's success (Coghlan & Brydon-Miller, 2014). The external business environment for any organization experiences dynamic changes, and therefore, it is the role of the managers to ensure that the firm keeps up with such changes. Definition of strategic planning
Strategic management refers to the focus made by organizations to utilize the available resources and time to achieve their set goals in the external environment. The time taken to implement the strategic plan highly depends on the size and age of the firm. Strategic planning constitutes of three steps. The initial step is the assessment of the organization's current situation. The step is followed by the determination of the goals that the firm intends to meet within the stipulated time frame. In addition, the third step involves the planning process, detailing all the strategies that ought to be followed for the firm to meet its objectives as well as implementing them. The final step involves the monitoring of the already implemented plan. It is in this stage that the strategic planners are able to note any necessary changes that might need to be implemented.
