The Best Decision Made
One of the best decisions I have ever made was switching from a passive to a healthier lifestyle. About three years ago, a friend informed me that an uncle was hospitalized for type 2 diabetes. She mentioned that her uncle's physician provided the family with educational resources on changes individuals can make to improve the patient's quality of life. My friend learned that adjusting eating habits and including physical exercise in an individual's routine could significantly reduce the risks of illness. I was determined to commit to my new goal.
My decision to lead a healthier lifestyle was inspired by fear. My friend's description of the distress her uncle experienced motivated me to be proactive about my health and to invest in regular exercise to reduce susceptibility to illnesses during old age. While fear inspired change, I noticed several benefits that sustained my adopted habits. There was a significant improvement in my breathing and ability to focus. I gained confidence, which translated to higher productivity. Taking a proactive outlook on preventative self-care was among my best decisions, and I included healthy coping strategies to manage stress.
Worst Decision
One of the worst decisions I have ever made was refusing a colleague's offer to invest in his startup venture. James is a talented programmer that currently owns a successful video game company.
