In order for you to develop skills in applying the organizational concepts we are studying to your work to identify problems and propose effective solutions, we will first begin by practicing on case studies based on real issues in organizations. This case study is based upon actions of real hospitals and real issues they are facing. Read the attached case and answer the questions. Question 1
How have the changes Los Rayos made affecting nurses attitudes? What problems to the business may poor nurse attitudes cause?
Los Rayos' changes would negatively impact nurses' attitudes. It would make the nurses feel less considered in decision-making and overworked. For instance, altering the staffing ratios is a critical problem since it is changed from 1:12 to 1:24. The nurses would have to go beyond their timeframe to meet the patients' demands. Excessive work is a key demotivating factor among the employees (Karami et al., 2017). The nurses would feel that the organization exploits them, thus jeopardizing their ability to work. The higher ratios would result in increased workloads and different management issues.
Poor nurse attitudes would impact the hospital outcomes negatively, such as lowering the efficiency of healthcare, and nurses would experience delays in health care delivery. Some issues which may be noted due to negative attitudes include reduced patient-nurse engagement and poor healthcare delivery. Therefore, the nurses' negative attitude jeopardizes the quality of care provided.
