Book Review Guidelines
Due Date: December 9th, 2021
Assignment: Read one book selected from provided approved book list or a book which has been approved by the course instructor (contact instructor for approval). Student will provide a 2-3 page book review of the selected reading. If you chose to watch one of the three films listed at the bottom of the book list instead, insert “film” where “book” is shown for the remainder of the following assignment description.
Intent of assignment: To familiarize the reader with a personal account of disability. Students will gain an understanding of disability and the impact of disability on participation in meaningful occupations.
Assignment requirements:
- Paper must be typed, double spaced
- Paper should have the full title, author and publication/copyright information listed at the top of the paper.
Content of paper:
- Overview of the book – what type of disability the book focused on, the author’s relationship to the disability (the author has a disability, the author is writing about someone else) and major points of the book.
- What you personally learned from the book and what unanswered questions you have.
- How the information you learned relates to the field of occupational therapy (how are daily occupations impacted by this diagnosis), using person first language.
- Would you recommend this book and why or why not?
