Redo-Mitral Valve Replacement Outcome in Adult Patients

Article Instructions:

Journal article reviews should be 2-3 pages in length, double- spaced, no larger than 12 pt. Times New Roman font. Articles should be from scientific, peer-reviewed journals, and have been published within the last ten years (2008, or later). The reviews must cite a complete reference (AMA format), the major significance of the article, and your critical response. TurnItIn software will be used to check for plagiarism.
The articles that are do are on REDO HEART OPERATIONS: WITH MECHANICAL ARTIFICIAL VALVE. Needed redo that lived or that have mortality after the redo. That will conclude in a final presentation. Please use this link for the article to use.

Outcome after Redo-Mitral Valve Replacement in Adult Patients: A 10-Year Single-Centre Experience
Sample Summary
The objective of this study by Vohra et al. (2012) is to determine the outcome of adult patients who undergo redo-mitral valve replacement (redo-MVR) at one of the randomly selected institution. The participants of the study included forty-nine adult male patients. The number of adult male patients who took part in bioprosthetic redo-MVR was 24 while those who took part in the mechanical valve redo-MVR were 25. The study took ten years between January 2000 and 2010. The patients who took part in the study had a median age of 63 years while their ages were between 21 years and 80 years.
For the first time redo-MVR, the median time that was recorded was 8.2±6.6 year, while the recorded median time for the second redo-MVR was 6.4±5.6 years. The research by Vohra et al. (2012) also showed that the number of prosthetic endocarditis case was 22, i.e. (n=22), para-prosthetic leakage cases were (n=12), malignancy cases were (n=1), prosthetic valve thrombosis was (n=6) and the structural valve degeneration (n=8). The type of sampling that was used for this study is non-random since all the patients who underwent the redo-MVR surgery were recorded for ten years.
Type of Study
Vohra et al. (2012) conducted a retrospective study which included 49 male patients (n=49). The patients had gone through redo-MVR surgery between the year 2000 and 2010. The operation involved either the bioprosthetic or mechanical valve replacement. The institutional board had waived the patient's consent before recording the observation. The patient's data was collected from the data stored in the medical databases through the electronic health records system (Vohra et al., 2012). The study was confidential and anonymous since the patient's information was not let out for the public to see.
The only thing that the researchers were interested in is the actual number of patients and the type of redo-MVR conducted. The study by Vohra et al. (2012) was quantitative since it involved the collection of data and the calculation and the analysis of the measures of the central tendency such as the mean and the median of the variables. The tools used for this quantitative research was the systematic observation where the number of patients was observed and recorded throughout ten years.
Research Methodology
The research was conducted through systematic observation. The study only included the patients who had undergone redo-MVR either bioprosthetic or mechanical valves and excluded the patients who had formerly undergone the alternative mitral valve interventi...
