Amaral has tried to contextualize the amount of plastics in our oceans by highlighting findings by several independent research groups and evidences of marine animals which have died from ingesting plastic. He describes how the plastic issue has ballooned and the process of how it gets from you to the ocean. He also discusses some adverse effects of these plastics and some efforts that have been drafted to cur the issue and what you as an individual can do to reduce your plastic footprint on the oceans.
