Terry Tempest writes about her experiential life and narrates her family's story heavy affected and facing numerous challenges due to breast cancer. Her mother, grandmother and aunts had undergone mastectomy after being subjected to radiation and chemotherapy treatments. She talks about her problems as well having had two biopsies related to breast cancer and a tumor. The thesis of the book revolves a family affected by breast cancer the writer believes had its roots "form the nuclear bomb testing in Nevada and Utah in the 1950s and 1960s. It is the authors personal account of challenges caused by breast cancer to herself and her significant others.
