Admission Essay: What Makes Me Capable of Being A Nurse

My name is Valorie Littlejohn. I've tried writing this one myself and feel like it turned out horribly. I am mother of four with a fantastic support system. I've been a caregiver since i was sixteen. I have both CNA licenses.
What makes you capable of being a nurse?
It is easy for me to adapt to the ever-changing events that may or may not occur in nursing. This may not always be easy for someone to do but I am strong and dedicated. The nursing profession is fast paced and diverse, you never know who you will be caring for from day to day. My eagerness to learn and obtain the knowledge needed for nursing will be beneficial in the ever changing medical field. It will allow me perform the most up to date medical care.
I am caring, a quick learner, have great problem-solving skills and good communication skills. I know that not every patient is the same and I always treat them as individuals. I have four kids who are now all teenagers, so I know how to juggle schedules and demands. I will make responsible decisions when it come to the person I am caring for and I can stay calm in unexpected events. Knowing how your patient feels is a huge part of healthcare and I am very empathetic to their needs.
Helping them feel comfortable and respected is a great quality to have when working in this field. Emotions change day to day and you never know what to expect, I know that I can help the patient through it. I know how to keep my composure in difficult situations, I can redirect them if I need to. I am confident that I can handle any situation that nursing may throw at me. The well-being of the person I am caring for is what matters, and I will do whatever I can to help a stranger in need of help.
I know that this is the path I want to take, and I will always take pride of the work I will be doing as a nurse. All I need is the chance to get the education required to become a nurse.
