Effective Human Resource Management
OL 211 Final Project Guidelines and Rubric
Overview

Human Resource Management Review
Introduction
Employees play key roles in the development of organizations. As a matter of fact, employees can make a company successful, and they can also cause an organization to fail dismally. Since the human resource (HR) department is the arm mandated with the recruitment of employees in organizations, it is vital to ensure prosperity in an organization, thus making it a key department in any given industry. However, several HR functions should be handled properly to ensure that employees work towards their vision and mission. Also, the HR department should lay measures that will equip employees to maneuver through anticipated future challenges. Therefore, this paper shall provide a detailed Human Resource Management (HRM) review for A.P. Moller-Maersk Group, highlighting how its HR functions enable it to maneuver over foreseeable challenges.
HRM Functions and Practices
The human resource department's primary functions in any organization are recruitment, management, and directing human personnel within a workplace. Prospering companies are usually forced to adjust to the changing needs as they expand with time. This expansion prompts HR departments to adjust their functions to meet the needs brought about by the organization's changes. This reason, therefore, calls for HR departments to be flexible enough not only in adjusting to the changes being experienced but also to forecast and prepare for anticipated challenges that might arise in the future. Therefore, HR departments need to align their functions to the organizations' strategic plan. This aids in identifying future challenges and establishes proper measures of dealing with the anticipated challenge before it is experienced.
Technological advancement is just but one of the current global conditions that have impacted human resource management's functionalities in various organizations. Advancement in technology has to the innovation of new knowledge, skills, and machines used in various industries today. Therefore, the new inventions require employees who are not conversant in getting training on applying the inventions. This way, HR departments are forced to incorporate continuous training in their system to keep up with the dynamic world that keeps changing with continuous inventions. On the other hand, companies expanding internationally need to change their culture to accommodate the diverse international community. For instance, the A.P. Moller-Maersk group, which was deep-rooted in Danish culture having been found in Denmark by Danish people, has been forced to adjust its culture to accommodate the international community after it expanded its wings internationally. Currently, the company conducts its meetings in the English language and not in Danish as it used to be previously (Groysberg & Abbot 2012).
Staffing
