Alternative energy such as wind and solar has a huge impact on people’s lives, with studies showing that it has the ability of meeting the electricity needs of 90% to 100% of Americans (Abraham, 2018). Although there are numerous sources of alternative energy, studies have shown that solar and wind can be used in combination to supplement each other and fulfill energy needs of the society. The same arguments have been supported by several experts in renewable energy who say that a small “hybrid” electric system that is able to integrate home solar electric technology and wind electric technology tend to offer numerous benefits. A combined system of wind and solar technology has numerous advantages compared to a single system (energy.gov, n.d). This is because during summer, there are low wind speeds but the sun tends to shine the longest and brightest. Therefore, hybrid electric systems enable homes to power different electric systems and even store excess energy in batteries.
