Acceptance Speech for Chief of Police
Honored dignitary Joseph Wood, board members, elective officials of federal provisional municipal, chiefs, partners, senior officers, community, friends, family, and civilians, it is with a great sense of appreciation that I thank all of you for being here today. Those who know me acknowledge that I like to speak to everyone; however, the number of attendances is overwhelming, and it troubles me that I might not get a chance to thank every one of you for sparing a day from your schedules for this occasion. It is truly a privilege to assume the position of the chief of police for the regional constabularies service. I am grateful to be able to carry on a heritage that various individuals have spent their lifespans leading. Moreover, I thank the police commission and fellow police staff for entrusting me with this position. I understand that the office comes with great responsibility, and I will try my best to carry out the work conscientiously.
I would like to recognize and thank our respectable friend Edward Johnson. Mr. Edward spent forty years serving the police department and the last eleven years as the chief. The chief gave the police section a modern look, and he has left the department in an admirable shape. I wish Mr. Johnson a happy and wonderful life as he retires. I would also like to acknowledge the retirees I worked with; your attendance means a lot. The things we achieve, big or small, are attributed to many people. When I look across, I see many police officers who do commendable jobs. I feel happy to be a part of such liberal intellectuals who remain patrons of the law enforcement vocation. Every cop’s work is important because it determines the safety of our community and the country.
Those in law administration know that family support is a fundamental requirement that promotes success in this career. As officers, we may have odd shifts, anxiety, spend a lot of time at work, and miss birthdays and holidays. All the above factors may occasionally take a toll on our family life (Ostapovich et al., 2020). I am fortunate to have a supportive and great family. I want to thank my spouse, daughter, and two sons for always bearing with my schedule. My two sons habitually read me promotional tests and ask questions about course fingerprints, recognizing blood spatter, and crime scene procedures. The act may seem like a game, but it enlightened me, and I appreciate the youngsters’ efforts. I would also like to thank my pa...
