It entails getting someone’s face on an image or a video and comparing it with a large collection of existing images of known faces to get a match (McClellan, 2019). Police are using facial recognition for surveillance and criminal investigations. Police can scan crowds and identify wanted individuals who have committed crimes. In a criminal investigation, facial recognition is used to match images of suspects to the databases of known offenders.
