Introduction
“No one is safe until everyone is safe!” These are the words of Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus (2020), World Health Organization (WHO) director, which openly criticizes wealthy nations, including the US and European nations, for promoting vaccine nationalism rather than making equitable distributions of vaccines to high-risk populations across the globe (as cited in Bauomy & Tidey, 2020). Vaccine nationalism is when a country makes deals with the vaccine manufacturers to prioritize their country in the distribution of drugs before making it available to other countries. In the US alone, the government bought $6 billion units of vaccines from pharmaceutical companies, which also include future vaccine supplies to be monopolized by one country. Although caring for public health is one of the primary tasks of the government, an open-source international collaboration among different countries and making an international equitable distribution of the vaccine are the ways to ensure the eradication of the pandemic. Today, I would like to share the effect of vaccine nationalism on wealthy and poor nations. I will also talk about the COVAX initiative that promotes equal international distribution.
Wealthy vs Poor Nations 
Vaccine nationalism is in itself a disease that will cause more suffering than benefits. It gives more pollution than solution. The US acquired private deals with vaccine manufacturers to prioritize the needs of American citizens before distributing outside the country. The treatment of viruses should start with high-risk populations rather than rich nations based on the history of antiviral drugs. For instance, the past lessons for treating the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) were available to wealthy countries on the moment that the Food and Drug Agency (FDA) approved its effectiveness in treating the disease.
