Introduction
Slavery shapes the history of the North American Colony. For more than 150 years, the colonies treated enslaved people (men, women, and children) as trade items. This harsh logic of enslaving people cast them as inputs to produce outputs. The colonies provided enslaved people with just food and clothes as inputs for their labor as output. During the slavery period, the world gave all these monetary values. In American history, slavery began prior to the 17th century, as early as 1619, after the arrival of Africans enslaved by the colonists or indentured servants, which implied that they were enslaved people for a given time before they became free. Slavery found its way to the North after legalization in 1641 in Massachusetts and the North. After the legalization, there was the development and implementation of Slave Codes. The Codes provided guidelines on slavery and depicted enslaved people as properties rather than human beings. This behavior created hostility and rebellions in the colonies. Tensions between enslavers and enslaved people increased, resulting in violent slave rebellions in the colonies.
Enslaved people in the North American colony had no rights because the developed codes embodied them as properties of their owners. Enslaved people were captured from Africa and sold to European slave traders who shipped them to the American market. In America, they were sold to their masters to work in plantations and exchanged among the enslavers to settle debts. They used to work from sun up to sun down with little food. Slavery began as an adventure by a single individual who wanted to explore the world. The urge to explore led to a discovery of economic opportunities using other human beings that resulted in racial segregation, including racism in society. Slavery took various forms, including domestic slavery, military slavery, and plantation slavery.
