In today’s fast-paced and competitive environment, every employer wants to see his company grow in a short time. For this purpose, he hires the most qualified, experienced, and skilled individuals in different positions, and assigns them multiple tasks on a daily basis. One of the major problems employees face is that they are not provided with sufficient chances of career grooming (Presbitero, 2015).
The employers want them to work harder than ever, give them fixed salaries, and provide them with an insufficient number of bonuses. Is it enough for them to survive in this competitive world? There is a strong need to revise these self-imposed policies in offices because customer satisfaction is possible only when the employees are also satisfied with their jobs, salaries, and plans of work.
Problems
A large number of problems have surfaced due to these conflicting working policies. Both experienced and inexperienced graduates have started looking for jobs that guarantee both excellent salary and enough chances of career grooming. In order to land a dream job, they are even ready to opt for unpaid internships and aim to polish their communication and interpersonal skills (Davis, 2015). As a result, private companies or medium-sized enterprises have started losing many of their hard-working and dedicated employees. If the situation persists, then soon their businesses will be shut down, and this will eventually impact the economy of states (Piotrowski, 2014).
Managerial Decision
For various employees, the managers’ decision of offering fixed salaries, weekly or monthly bonuses and health benefit is no longer attractive and appealing. They want chances of career grooming too; for this purpose, companies or businesses should consider promoting their employees from junior to senior positions twice a year, based on their overall performance and the stamina to face challenges (Fleisher, Khapova, & Jansen, 2014).
