The Relationship between Asthma and the Environment in the Black Community

Research Proposal Instructions:

I am researching the relationship between asthma and the environment.
Especially among black people. I would like to explore triggers, allergens, genetics, treatments, compliance with care, follow up care, etc...compared to people with better socioeconomic status

Outcomes for Proposal:

a. Identify a nursing issue that could be studied (CO-2, 4)

b. Critique at least five research articles on the nursing issue chosen (CO-6)

c. Demonstrate the scientific method in the development of a nursing research project (CO-1, 6, 7, 8)

Content:For the proposal each individual will need to identify a problem/issue in the field of nursing.  Make sure that it is an area that could actually be researched. In week 4, you will need to post your topic and how you may do a study on this topic in the appropriate link. Your instructor and others will provide comments to further refine your topic. You will then look use the library to find studies (research articles) that have been done on this issue (this is beyond your textbook). It is best if these studies are within the past five years.  You will use the following table to clarify areas from these articles. This is to be posted in the appropriate link in week 8.

This table will assist you in writing your literature review for the Mini Proposal
Areas to cover Article 1 Article 2 Article 3 Article 4 Article 5Article reference-APA format Topic of content Literature review areas Research design Framework if present Study details Analysis done Findings Recommendations
The proposal should include the following areas:Abstract: A clear overview of the paper contents. No more than 150 words.Introduction: Clear identification of a nursing problem and the background of the problemhypothesis or research questions identified-be sure they are measurableLiterature review: Reviewing pertinent at least 5 research articles, and summarize.Sampling methods needed to undertake this particular study-where, how, when and why will you choose the sample. Ethical issues addressed
Methodology: how will the data be collected- interviews, questionnaire, survey, etc. what kind of questions or observation will be included. Not expecting entire document but areas to be included with type of response such as narrative, yes/no, Likert. Must be feasibleData analysis:  type of potential specific statistical tests to be used for which data. Why?Conclusion summarizes proposed study and benefits to nursing
This paper should be approximately 8-10 pages excluding the title page and the references. It will need to be in APA format.  No more than 25% can be from sources/references, 75% needs to be your own ideas.
Be sure to look at sample proposal in course to assist in writing this paper.

Abstract
The relationship between asthma and the environment is complex. Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disease affecting the airways conducting regions and respiratory regions, marked by chronic bronchitis, breathlessness, tightness of the chest, and coughing. Asthma symptoms can be triggered by exposure to allergens (such as dust mites, pollen, animal dander, and mold), irritants (such as tobacco smoke, air pollution, and strong odors), and physical activity. Evidence suggests that asthma is more common among black people living in poverty. It can be due to various factors, including exposure to environmental triggers, genetics, and lack of access to quality healthcare.
The relationship between asthma and the environment
Introduction
There is an essential link between asthma and the environment, particularly among African-Americans. Asthma is a long-term illness that affects the lungs and airways, making breathing difficult. A mix of hereditary and environmental factors produces the condition. Air pollution, dust, mold, and pollen are also environmental triggers for asthma. Pet dander, cockroach droppings, and certain foods might set off an asthma attack as well. Asthma development is also influenced by genetics (Stern et al., 2020). A person's risk of developing asthma increases if they have a family history of the condition. Several asthma therapies are available, but adherence to therapy is often a challenge. In addition, follow-up treatment is often insufficient. These issues are often exacerbated in those of lower socioeconomic positions. In the United States, asthma affects roughly 7% of the population. However, some groups of individuals have a significantly greater prevalence. Asthma, for example, affects around 13% of black individuals.
There are many disparities in the care of people with asthma. Black people are more likely to be hospitalized for asthma than white people. They are also more likely to die from asthma. These disparities are often due to differences in access to care, compliance with care, and follow-up care. Asthma is a serious problem, especially among black people. The relationship between asthma and the environment is complex. Many environmental factors can trigger asthma attacks. Allergens, air pollution, and dust are just a few of the many triggers (Stern et al., 2020). Many treatments are available for asthma, but compliance with care is often a problem. Follow-up care is also often inadequate. These problems are often worse in people with lower socioeconomic status. There are many disparities in the care of people with asthma.
