General Electric Company (GE) was incorporated and established in 1892 after acquiring the Edison General Electric and merging with Thomson-Houston Company, and operated in the power industry. There was more focus on industrial research especially in the power industry, and manufactured products like alternators, electric lamps, generators and motors.
In 1907, GE developed a full line of heating and cooking devices followed by developing aircraft engine in 1907. There corporate changes in 1930 as the company expanded and established a plastic department. While the company consolidated in the electrical industry, it diversified into electrical appliances in the 1920. In the 1950s and 60s GE was an industrial conglomerates; and the 1980 GE entered moved financial services market.
