The Cloisters Exhibition Galleries
Located in Fort Tyron Park in northern Manhattan is The Met Cloisters. It consists of a collection of over 2000 artworks by various artists that were focused on the presentation of the artworks from medieval West. The various pieces of art are largely based on the Christian faith, including the sacred figure of Christ. The exhibition demonstrates various Biblical stories by using cool colors that are brought to life by the neon lights used. The experience was quite emotional, especially with the depictions of the life of Christ, His trials and eventual death. The exhibition was generally beautiful with the paintings on the wall and the sculptures neatly placed at the center of the rooms. Short stories are included just below most of the art pieces that make it easier to understand the history behind the works. An interesting feature that one cannot fail to notice is the use of panel paintings. Moreover, individual works are placed within different elements of architecture in such a manner that one can experience a series of cloisters that are functioning. The exhibition is important as it gives a glimpse of the elements that defined Christianity and worship in the days of old. The exhibition of these elements can be instrumental in even converting those that have had a chance to see and understand them.
