Tesla’s international strategy in various global markets involves targeting key transnational customer groups with homogenous product offerings. The company shifted its focus from the high-end sports car market to the sedan market: Tesla initially offered the Tesla Roadster, Tesla’s first car model, but gradually moved to sedans and cheaper car models such as the Model S and Model X. Cheaper models allowed the car manufacturer to penetrate the highly competitive sedan market and resulted in higher sales potential as well as mass vehicle production across the globe.
