Organizational Behavior / business management. Management Research
The term paper requires each student to use the notions from what we learned about Organizational behavior in the business world, to analyze and explain elements of “the case”. For this paper the professor assigned “the case” as the movie Apollo 13, we are required to watch it or have seen it. For such a comprehensive analysis to be feasible it is necessary to have a set of events, situations, individuals, groups and organizations with significant information or insight available. We were suppose to have a group project at the end of this course about Apollo 13 but the professor decided to change the assignment to a term paper due to Clovis 19, I’ll attach an image of his original post about the group project but now changed to a Term Paper.

Organizational behavior, as learned previously, is the study of how humans behave despite having individual differences, and how performance, in general, affects organizational settings—understanding all that can play a key role in how any organization can be successful. In this film, organizational behavior comes about in some scenarios but it also lacks in most of the scenarios.
The Apollo 13 was a space program that as launched by NASA hose main intention was to land on the moon. Although the mission didn’t turn out to be as successful as they wanted it to be, they still managed to jump around the moon before successfully coming back to earth. This essay looks at how organizational behavior in the business world relates to the Apollo 13 case study.
The Apollo 13 mission is a very historic milestone with a lot of significance in terms of how far human beings have come. In the film Apollo 13, the creators did quite an excellent job of displaying most of the events that happened during that time. In the movie, Organizational behavior is demonstrated by the astronaut Jen Lovell who plays as the leader that takes command and is in charge of all his fellow astronauts. Despite them not being cleared fully to take flight into the moon until the next Apollo mission, he stepped up and did a fantastic job in being the commanding officer even though their trip encountered some serious breakdowns.
The presence of Jim Lovell and his second in command Gene Kranz is a key part of the film as the two are used to show how organized leadership can help members of a particular team be able to survive and thrive. Individuals can live up to their full potential in this world, where events that occur unexpectedly can change the dimension of the game. The two characters show how being a leader does not necessarily mean you are way above your colleagues. The two showed great maturity in terms of how they handled their interpersonal relationships with their colleagues. Jim acts as the calm and confident guy who mostly is the voice of reason in times of crisis. He is a guy who believes in democracy and always showed support whenever required.
His decision-making skills were put to the test when he was forced to replace Ken Mattingly. The unexpected decision to replace him with a rookie officer by the name of Kevin Bacon is something that surprised the other crew members. It did not sit well with Ken himself and a few more members, but he did what he had to do since Ken couldn't work under the current circumstances as he had been informed that he was exposed to manage measles.
