The influence of different factors on sleep time
Abstract
This research paper uses an archival data set at Gajjar (2021) called "Sleep pattern" to analyze the correlation between factors that may or may not cause less time to sleep. The data set contains information from a survey of 46 participants asking 11 questions, including age, gender, meals per day, physical illness, daily screen time on a cell phone, blue light filter on the phone, sleep direction, exercise, smoke/drink preference, beverage preference, and average sleep time. Using these existing data, I will analyze the connection between several variables and sleep time to see which factor would affect sleep time the most.
The influence of different factors on sleep time
People spend nearly a third of their lives on sleep, which shows that sleep quality is essential to people's lives. Good sleep quality and long sleep time may make people full of energy throughout the day. On the contrary, impaired sleep quality and short sleep time may make people feel unmotivated throughout the day and have poor efficiency in work and study. This research analyzes the factors that most affect sleep time through archival data from a survey.
Literature Review
Therefore, Kaya et al. (2020) conclude that there is a relationship between smartphone use, poor sleep quality, and depressive symptoms in university students (Kaya et al., 2020). This research is similar to my title in some ways, but it concentrates on the particular element of time spent on mobile phones, time spent on mobile phones is the most critical factor impacting sleep time.
Research Questions or Hypothesis
Based on this data set and past research, I expect that the amount of time spent on mobile phones has the most significant influence on sleep quality. Conclusions can be drawn by intuitively comparing the data of these two columns in the data set.
Method
First, I'll rule out factors like gender that don't significantly impact sleep by observing this data set. Next, conclusions were drawn using the software r to perform regression analysis and compare the remaining factors and sleep time in turn. But I would measure the correlation of other elements with sleep duration, and I will use the same method as this study, linear regression, to get the result.
Results
Sleep is an unavoidable part of everyday life, and it is also one of the most crucial components in maintaining good health. Sleep has a favorable impact on one's overall quality of life and the body's functioning and homeostasis. All of an organism's cellular, organic, and systemic functions depend on sleep, and not getting enough sleep could be bad for your health by changing how you eat, how your body handles glucose, your blood pressure, how you think, and how some hormones work. A good night's sleep is essential for keeping your body, mind, and spirit healthy. I found that most of the participants were in their 20s and that only a few were older than 30. I also found that only a few people were physically sick, showing that age and physical illness are present in this study.
The number of people who say their dreams are extremely strong or dangerous was correlated with a list of factor...
