* Thesis: While survival to death is possible and exciting for people to know that they will never lose their lives, enjoying immortality may be proven wrong by aspects such as the boring bit of living forever in the predicted conditions such as global warming.
* Points supporting the argument
* It is possible to survive death. Humans are composed of bodies and souls. While the body may indefinitely cease existence after death, the soul survives and continues to exist (Andrade, n.d.).
* Also, it would be possible to survive death after the resurrection. In this case, immortality is attained by a reformation of the body and the existing soul to their original being (Andrade, n.d.). Thus, although the body is detached during death, it resumes existence after the resurrection.
* Immortality may be related to Pascal’s Wager argument. If people decide to believe that something they do not know anything about, like God, existed, it would be wiser to believe it exists (Andrade, n.d.). Such identities have a reward after believing in them. People would rather believe they exist and gain the reward. They will have nothing to lose if they do not exist. Therefore, it is better to believe there is life after death because if it exists, there is a reward for the faith, and the believers would lose nothing if it does not exist (Andrade, n.d.).
* Believing in immortality is essential in helping people find their meaning in life. Although believing in immortality is irrational, it helps people avoid desperation, especially when thinking about unreasonable issues and things they could be experiencing in life.
