Introduction
Though Lesbian, Gay, Bisexuals, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ) Americans are an essential part of the society, their cultural identity and their rights have been staggered for a long time. Even though there have been improvements in accepting the requests of LGBTQ people and promoting variety, it is still hard to meet the needs of this group (Thomas et al., 2021). One of the many reasons for these problems is that prejudice and discrimination still happen in many work areas. This paper will focus on the cultural identity, present standing, relations with majority community groups, risk factors, and historical context of LGBTQ Americans.

Cultural Identity
LGBTQ American cultural identity is a complex weave that shows how different people are and how hard they work. It has a lot of other problems and successes that make up a rich culture tapestry. This identity is shaped by history, social progress, intersectionality, and the never-ending fight for equal rights and respect. The Stonewall riots of 1969 and the AIDS epidemic of the 1980s and 1990s were critical historical events that shaped the LGBTQ community’s cultural identity (Sadika et al., 2020). In the LGBTQ group, there are people of many different ages, income levels, races, and religions. This diversity adds to how the lives of LGBTQ Americans cross over with each other. LGBTQ individuals of colour are typically abused more because of their race. Pride activities like Black LGBTQ Pride demonstrate the importance of listening to and learning from LGBTQ persons who have experienced many experiences. All these groups started with intersectionality. People have invented several new words to describe identities and preferences. Queer people now use “cisgender,” “non-binary,” and “genderqueer,” respectively. You can use additional words to describe yourself. In recent years, the US LGBTQ community has made significant progress toward equality and recognition.
Criteria for a Minority Group Described by Healey and Stepnick
Healey and Stepnick argue that the LGBTQ population in the United States may be a minority due to social inferiority, shared characteristics, and historical subjugation. One of the most revealing characteristics of hidden groups is how they react to social adversity or wrongdoing. Both Healey and Stepnick stress the need to take the team into account. In the United States, the LGBTQ+ community has banded together to demand equality and defend their rights, whether they identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, or questioning (Sadika et al., 2020).
