Please be sure to read all of the following instructions and requirements before uploading your paper.
Your paper should summarizing an interesting concept or topic that you learned about in this class. It should be an academic paper about a topic in psychology, not a personal reflection paper that focuses primarily on your own life -- it is fine to include a few details about your personal experience with the topic, but that should not be the main focus of your paper.
You can choose any topic that was covered in the textbook, or the optional videos. It is expected that your topic will not be one of the homework assignment or discussion board topics, since you already wrote about those. You are not required to cite sources outside of the textbook and assigned videos. However, if you do use outside sources, you are required to include them in the references section of your paper and cite them in APA style.
The final version of your paper should be at least two full pages of double-spaced text in 12-point standard font (e.g. Arial, Times, or a very similar font). Your paper should include a cover page (on a separate page from the two pages of double spaced text). If you cite references, then the references page should be on a separate page from the two pages of double-spaced text as well. The correct format is shown in the example paper. The cover page and the references page do not count toward the two pages of of text. The two pages should be text that you have written and that makes up the body of your paper (see the example paper if you are not sure what this should look like). The margins of your pages should be no larger than one inch, and there should not be extra spaces between your paragraphs.
Your paper should be written in your own words, and all information taken from other sources should be cited. This means that you should not plagiarize -- do not copy from other sources without citing them. For the purposes of this paper, since I already know that you are using the OpenStax textbook, you do not need to include a citation to that.
However, all other sources should be cited. In addition, writing in your own words, for this assignment, means that you should paraphrase the information you have learned instead of using direct quotes. Paraphrasing is required for this assignment, because that is how I can tell that students understood the information correctly instead of just copying it over.
You may optionally include one (1) direct quote of no more than 50 words from the textbook or another source you a have chosen to include in your references section. Any subsequent references to other sources must be paraphrased.
You will find that in academic writing, it is unusual for psychologists to use direct quotes, and so paraphrasing is a good skill for you to begin to practice now. You can see some examples of how to paraphrase information from a source while parenthetically citing that source in the example paper, as well as in the document word template.

Many people, if not all, aims to be happy in life. That is why there are many material things and various experiences promising happiness as a marketing strategy. However, how can one define what happiness is? Many psychologists, philosophers, and researchers have defined it using different aspects, yet the available definitions cannot fully encompass all the various perspectives and true essence of happiness. This paper aims to discuss the psychology of happiness.
As said previously, the definition of happiness varies depending on the individual. Some associate their happiness with their religion and spirituality; others relate happiness to having work-life balance and contentment, while others view happiness as finding one’s purpose in life. There are known common factors to consider when it comes to those that spark joy. Some of the factors associated with happiness are the following: family loved ones and formed social relationships, religion, money, the standard of living, occupation, and education. Among the mentioned factors, the strongest predictor of happiness in various studies is social relationships with family, friends, co-workers, etc. The other factors do not automatically guarantee and equate to happiness, but it may promote it under the right circumstances.
Based on research, three essential elements need to be satisfied to attain happiness. These three elements are, namely, a pleasant life, a good life, and a meaningful life. Having a pleasant life involves simple everyday occurrence that gives pleasure, such as drinking your morning coffee, gardening, and long walks by the beach.
