The United States has a unique system of health care delivery which has evolved over time. Although the U.S. health care delivery system has evolved in response to cost, access, and quality, there are often assertions made about health care delivery in the United States. For example, according to Mary Mahon (2015), VP of Public Information at the Commonwealth Fund, the U.S. spends more on health care than other high-income nations, but has a lower life expectancy and worse health.

Introduction
One of the key challenges facing the US is health care. The rising cost of health care coupled with failed reforms means that the country performs poorly on health outcomes compared to other high-income countries. This paper examines five assumptions related to US health care.
The U.S. spends too much on health care services.
I agree with this statement because comparable statistics back it. Comparison of healthcare spending by high-income countries around the world has consistently shown that the US spends heavily on health care services without promising results. According to Squires and Anderson (2015), the US expenditure on healthcare is the highest among the OECD countries. In addition, 17.1% of the country’s GDP was spent on health care in 2013, a figure which is almost double what the UK spent on health care (8.8%) (Squires & Anderson, 2015). Despite the high spending, the country records fewer physician and hospital visits. Therefore, it is conclusive to say that the country spends too much on health care services.
The poor lack health care.
This statement is true because poverty in the country has been associated with lower life expectancy. According to Dickman, Himmelstein, and Woolhandler (2017), the life expectancy of the wealthiest Americans is 10-15 years more than that of the poorest. The authors also point out that about 27 million Americans are not covered by health insurance, despite the coverage gains attained by the Affordable Care Act. With poverty attributed to the lack of health cover, it is right to say the poor lack health care. Dickman, Himmelstein, and Woolhandler (2017) also note that the middle-class and the poor pay a larger percentage of their income for health care compared to high-income individuals. It is safe to assume that the poor lack health care.
The systems in other countries are better.
