Why do Pentecostals speak in tongues during the prayer? According to Gary Mcgee, various Pentecostal groups think that by speaking in tongues, their connection with God gets strengthened (Mcgee, 2008). Speaking in tongues is basically their idea of intense utterance and shouts so that God can hear their voices and can give them what they are looking for. Some believers even claim that glossolalia (speaking in tongues) is evidence of God’s existence as He has allowed them to talk this way and to convey their emotions. This experience, according to them, is absolute proof of God’s love and affection with them. The believers use a variety of languages, tongue movements, and vocals in order to speak to God from both internally and externally. Using the tongue is not enough; the Pentecostal groups believe in bowing before God and obeying Him in all circumstances.
