Reflective Journal: Nursing Roles

Research Paper Instructions:

Learners must maintain a reflective journal integrating self-reflection and inquiry demonstrated in the current Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) course.
General Requirements:
Use the following information to ensure successful completion of the assignment:
• Download the "Reflective Journal Template," located in the DNP PI Workspace, for submission. Directions provided in the template should be followed because they align to the assignment rubric.
• A minimum of three peer-reviewed references published within the last 5 years is required.
• Learners will submit this assignment using the assignment dropbox in the LMS. In addition, learners must upload this deliverable to the Learner Dissertation Page (LDP) in the DNP PI Workspace for later use.
• Doctoral learners are required to use the current APA style for their essay writing assignments. The current APA Style Guide is located in the Student Success Center.
• This assignment uses a rubric. Review the rubric before beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.
Directions:
1. Using a scholarly approach, maintain a reflective journal integrating self-reflection and inquiry demonstrated in the current DNP course.
2. Learners must submit this deliverable in the LMS and upload it to the "Learner Dissertation" page in the DNP PI Workspace for later use. In addition, submit your reflective journal to course faculty using the assignment dropbox. Failure to submit the reflective journal in both locations can result in an Incomplete for the course.

These are the topic cover this session.
Topic 1 DQ 1
You have studied the essential structural elements of a functional eukaryotic chromosome. Select an essential structural element of interest. What are the implications of this element for research, health, and life span? How can the doctoral-prepared nurse apply this information in practice? Explain. Support your rationale with a minimum of two scholarly sources.
Topic 1 DQ 2
Identify a specific disease encountered in your clinical practice or personal life. Can your patient's understanding of DNA/RNA replication, transcription, and translation affect the management of the disease? Explain. Support your rationale with a minimum of two scholarly sources.
Topic 2 DQ 1
Identify a complex inheritance health issue you encountered in your clinical practice or personal life. How would you approach working with a patient of a complex inheritance health issue? Explain. Support your rationale with a minimum of two scholarly sources.
Topic 2 DQ 2
Refer to the complex inheritance health issue identified in DQ 1. Given available genetic tests, which would you use to screen and diagnose this issue? How can the doctoral-prepared nurse apply this information in practice? Explain. Support your rationale with a minimum of two scholarly sources.
Topic 3 DQ 1
A multigenerational family health history can facilitate the management of a patient's disease. What model would you use to create a multigenerational family health history for a patient? Explain. Support your rationale with a minimum of two scholarly sources.
Topic 3 DQ 2
Why is it important to have a comprehensive health and physical assessment that includes information on environment and genomic influences? How can the doctoral-prepared nurse apply this information in practice? Explain. Support your rationale with a minimum of two scholarly sources.
Topic 4 DQ 1
In the past decade there have been many advances in genetics and genomics and their application to health screening, diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis. What recent advancement do you believe is the most significant for your clinical practice? Explain. Support your rationale with a minimum of two scholarly sources.
Topic 4 DQ 2
Genetic/Genomic factors are known to contribute to variability of pharmacologic responses in some patients. How does the variability of responses result in tailoring pharmacologic agents to the care of these patients? Explain. Support your rationale with a minimum of two scholarly sources.
Topic 5 DQ 1
Health issues in a clinical setting can be influenced by nutrition. Identify a health issue that has been positively influenced by nutrition in your clinic. How does nutrition improve health? How can the doctoral-prepared nurse apply this information in practice? Explain. Support your rationale with a minimum of two scholarly sources.

One of the main roles of a nurse leader is to help create a better and improved allocation of resources in the healthcare practice. This allows him to help the organization to increase the quality and accessibility of care for everyone. In this essay, the nurse scholar would like to focus on comprehensive health and physical assessment that includes genomic and environmental factors during an assessment. Notably, this reflection would focus on some of the competencies set forth by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) and other scientific, technical, and specialized skills related to the same.
Reflection
Throughout the course of the semester, the nurse scholar has learned that it is crucial to utilize a comprehensive health assessment to the patient. A comprehensive health assessment helps provide quality and holistic care that considers. Accordingly, among the various learnings that the author had during the experience, the importance of asking about the patient's environmental and genomic background to better diagnose and assess the patient's condition.
On the one hand, environmental circumstances refer to those that are related to environmental hazards, socio-economic status, and even social factors that might affect his health condition. For example, in one study done by Parks et al. (2017), the authors found out that environmental factors have a significant relationship with the worsening of systemic lupus erythematosus, which necessitates the importance of its determination of whether during diagnosis or treatment. Additionally, a focus on environmental factors could also be crucial in determining possible lifestyle diseases, thereby increasing the chances of having proactive prevention and treatment with the help of the patient CITATION Bha17 \l 1033 (Bhatnagar, 2017).
With regards to the author's own experience, he also realized that an understanding of the patient's environmental circumstances could be helpful in the 'social aspect' of nursing. It allows the nurse to develop a social connection with the patient, which then improves treatment dynamics...
