Understanding the relationship between the different elements of the nursing practice is crucial for the better provision of care. In this essay, the nurse scholar reflects the different competencies that he has learned in line with his future career as a Doctor of Nursing. The following essay mainly focuses on the core competencies set forth by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN). This includes analyzing and reflecting on the scientific, technical, and other specialized skills that the author has learned throughout his studies. 
Reflection
This reflective journal provides a summary of some of the experiences that the author had throughout the semester. Throughout the whole class, various skills, knowledge, and methodologies were used to strengthen the knowledge base of each nurse scholar in line with his future practice in nursing. Some of the course activities include the use of in-depth research, class discussions, and even experience journals that helped improve the author's capability to add to the pool of knowledge in the nursing field. Although there have been many essentials discussed throughout this course, the most notable for the author includes Essential II (organizational and systems leadership for quality improvement and systems thinking), Essential III (Clinical Scholarship and Analytical Methods for Evidence-Based Practice), and Essential V (Health Care Policy for Advocacy in Health Care).
Essential II: Organizational and Systems Leadership for Quality Improvement and Systems Thinking
One of the most challenging yet advantageous essentials taught in the DNP 805 course is Essential II. This essential was emphasized in the course through the use of CPOE (Computerized Provider Order Entry) systems in various treatment steps such as ordering, dispensing, transcribing, and administration processes. Notably, this helped the nurse scholar develop and identify ways to assess current organizational capabilities, evaluate the risks and opportunities, and organize and initiate wide-scale changes that would benefit healthcare provision through CPOE and CDSS systems (Burns, 2014). Through the discussion materials, case studies, and reflection, the author learned about some effective management strategies that could resolve some of the common bottlenecks or barriers in the adequate provision of care.
