Different nonprofit organizations have impacted communities worldwide due to their philanthropic activities. Their participation in combating diverse social, economic, health, and political issues is critical because it transforms societies in a desirable direction. One of these institutions is the Red Cross, which has gained significant global recognition because of the organization’s role in combating diseases and hunger worldwide. Red Cross’s presence in almost every country is a leading nonprofit organization that continues to impact people through public health-improving initiatives, safety-promoting programs, and equal opportunities for all. These elements transform the quality of life of the people within communities and restore their dignity in vulnerable conditions. As a result, this paper investigates Red Cross’ diverse components that enable it to leave impacts on communities and the opportunities for nurses within the establishment.
Influence of Red Cross Mission and Vision on Public Health and Safety Improvements
The Red Cross is one of the institutions that offer assistance to communities in times of disasters indiscriminately. An article by Kent State Online (2020) indicates that although public health is a central role of the federal and state governments, Red Cross has demonstrated its willingness to extend its services to supplement and support the efforts of promoting this aspect in societies. Its presence in needy situations is consistent with the mission that seeks to prevent or alleviate any form of human suffering during emergencies through the power of donors and volunteers. Its vision statement also strives to stimulate compassion-inspired actions that assist disaster-affected people in receiving shelter and care, strengthen communities in disasters, and improve access to lifesaving blood. This commitment enables the organization to remain alert in responding to all calamities destabilizing public safety because the mission and vision statement dictates its participation. These components have influenced the organization’s structuring to ensure that it prioritizes the needs of the communities rather than its internal elements. They have also ensured that it expands its presence in different parts of the world to ensure that it remains within reach of individuals that require urgent assistance whenever a crisis occurs. Thus, the mission and vision of the Red Cross are fundamental for its focus on public health and safety.
