This project is expected to take four to ten weeks. The first week will be dedicated to distributing the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) to all the healthcare managers, nursing staff, providers, and administrators at the capstone site. There will be a friendly email remainder during week two sent to individuals who have not completed the MBI. Data collection will continue until week 6. Once data collection is complete, data analysis will begin.

Challenges in the country’s healthcare system such as the rampant nursing shortage further inform a projected increase in the rate of burnouts across the healthcare profession with physicians and nurses being the worst affected. The increasing burnout rates have negative implications on the healthcare practitioners, patients, and healthcare organizations. Burnout nurses or physicians may compromise patient safety due to fatigue and thus limiting the delivery of quality care. It also reduces personal individual accomplishment and job satisfaction leading to high turnover rates. The estimated financial cost of losing a nurse on leaving their positions due to burnout ranges from $11000 to $90000 in accumulated costs (Kelly, 2021). Overcoming such financial losses necessitates the implementation of effective burnout interventions. This project offers an excellent platform for nurse leaders and the management of healthcare organizations to develop and implement appropriate burnout interventions for overall improvement in the delivery of quality healthcare.
